ABBYY Data Capture in Sri Lanka

Nov. 21, COLOMBO, SRI LANKA – ABBYY and Agaya Holdings (Private) Limited, our partner in Sri Lanka, held an event dedicated to ABBYY Data Capture solutions for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO), Business and Finance Solution Integrating (BFSI) and Manufacturing. Thanks to a wide publicity generated by Agaya, the event was attended by about 90 representatives of different companies who gathered in Taj Samudra, Colombo, to express their demands and find the right solutions.

The event started with a traditional lighting of an oil lamp shaped like a golden rooster, which is a Sri Lankan equivalent for the ribbon cutting ceremony. An honor to light the first candle was granted to Anna Budanova, ABBYY Partner Manager and Regional Analyst.

Having worked with Agaya since the very beginning, Anna was invited as a special guest to offer an insight into ABBYY Data Capture solutions and especially into the recently released ABBYY FlexiCapture for Invoices. Thanks to a live demo of the latter, all the visitors could see for themselves exactly how it works and what benefits it brings to automate invoice processing inside companies and organizations. Data capture solutions stirred particular interest among the representatives of the manufacturing sector. Having to regularly deal with piles of quality control questionnaires, they understand just what a huge relief will come from automation of mundane data extraction tasks. Prasad Hettiarachchi, Managing Director at Agaya Holdings, and Channa Gunawardena, Director at Agaya Holdings, made a live demonstration of ABBYY FlexiCapture and Recognition Server complementing it with their own experiences. The official part was followed by a lively discussion during which presenters answered questions and gave a few handy tips and tricks on how to improve document processing workflows.

Actually, it’s not the first major public event for ABBYY and Agaya in the past few weeks. At the end of October they presented ABBYY solutions at the annual ICT Exhibition in Sri Lanka – INFOTEL ICT EXPO 2014, which features about 250 exhibitors and attracts over 50,000 visitors each year. The event never fails to get extensive news coverage, so it was a chance for Agaya and ABBYY to get on TV. If you happen to speak the local language or just want to hear what it sounds like, check out this broadcast from the Sri Lanka TV.

“It's always a pleasure to come to Sri Lanka on business. It has beautiful landscapes, hospitable people and... a huge prospective market for ABBYY products. Until very recently all the documents here had been processed manually, but economic growth has brought modern trends and ideas. We are lucky to have such forward-thinking partners as Agaya, who assumed a role of pioneers on the data and document capture market. They are educating the market and changing the way companies view document processing in Sri Lanka, so we expect more great projects to come!” – says Anna Budanova.
